The Next Brit Things!
For the first time ever, major International music leaders, businesses and stars have got together to run a life changing competition specifically for young people aged between 11 and 19 called Next Brit Thing. The competition aims to find the best in new musical talent with an online competition where young people can submit the best they have to offer musically to be voted on by their friends, family, fans, site visitors from all over the world and eventually leading industry professionals. Next Brit Thing has active support from music stars including McFly, Matt Cardle, Gary Barlow, Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks, Laura Write and Labrinth, as well as many music producers and major manufacturers.
The competition has three categories and two stages, with prizes including Tickets to the BRIT Awards or Classical BRITs for the regional winners, a recording session at the world famous Abbey Road Recording studios, £10,000 of music equipment, and of course the presegious title that comes with winning the first ever Next Brit Thing Award.
Inverkeithing High School’s own Windband are entered in to the Classical category with a multi-camera video of them performing “When The Sun Breaks Through The Mist” at this years Award Ceremony. They’re currently leading in the Scottish Chart giving them a good chance to receive VIP tickets to the classical Brits at the Royal Albert Hall and to be put through to the national final by the judging panel.
A second familiar entry is local band Voracity, an alternative rock band who previously won the Fife Battle Of The Bands competition in 2010. Being entered into the mainstream category of the competition there's a lot more of a struggle to stay at number one, however there remains to be a very small difference in the amount of votes between the charting entries and you really could make a massive difference to the chart.
We’ve been full steam ahead in acquiring votes, with printed media from Bay Printing, social media campaigns resulting in a huge audience and “retweets” from MP’s, BBC Apprentice candidates and big National companies, as well as features on Kingdom FM, Amazing Radio and in the Dunfermline Press.
Both bands, and everyone who has an involvement with them would greatly appreciate if you could spare a minute to vote for our entries. You can vote with your Facebook account, which really is as simple as two clicks. We are at a huge benefit by having support from the community. If everyone who reads this spares a few seconds to vote, both entries would be comfortably at number one in their respective categories, not just in the Scottish Chart but in the National Chart.
