Safety call after Dalgety Bay teen hurt in quarry fall
4 AugustLocal police have appealed to everyone to consider their safety first and avoid playing in quarries after a Dalgety Bay teenager was injured in a serious quarry fall - the third such injury in the last few weeks.
Police were called to Prestonhill Quarry at around 8.20pm on Saturday night after 14-year-old local boy fell whilst climbing a rock face.
Fortunately he was not seriously injured, but was taken to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline where he was detained overnight. He sustained bruising but luckily no broken bones.
Supt John Pow said of this incident: "This is the second such incident to happen in a short period of time and is a reminder to us all of how dangerous an activity it is to play in the area of disused quarries.
"I would strongly discourage young people from engaging in such hazardous activity. Parents should be aware of their children's whereabouts and should also encourage their kids to stay away and stay safe."
