Heavy lifting as theives steal weights from Sports Centre

  • Thieves have made off with weights from Dalgety Bay Sports Centre

Thieves have done some heavy lifting in making off with some weights from the gym at Dalgety Bay Sports centre.

And local police are appealing to the public for information about the theft, which happened sometime between the centre closing on Monday evening (19th July) and re-opening early on Tuesday.

Forty 10kg weights, which were being were being used to retain the nets at the football goals were taken from the area of the Astro turf pitch.

Community Sergeant Graham McCallum who is supervising the investigation said: "It would appear from investigations so far that a vehicle has been driven onto the pitches and all of the weights stolen. I would appeal to anybody who knows anything about this theft or witnessed any suspicious behaviour to call us on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where all calls are treated anonymously."

With the price of scrap metal rising ...  I will say no more except it was probably a 'passing opportunist'  The items will be out of the county by now.  But why were the sports centre staff leaving lifting weights outside?
