Fight to restore Dalgety Bay commuter train goes to Holyrood
24 JanuaryThe fight to restore a commuter rail service to Dalgety Bay has been taken to the Scottish Parliament, with local MSPs receiving a commitment from the Transport Minister to fight to restore the train.
MSPs Helen Eadie and Claire Baker welcomed a commitment from Transport Minister Keith Brown to press operator Scotrail on restoring the 7.54am commuter service from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh, which was cut at the end of 2011.
The MSPs met with the Minister at Holyrood and conveyed to him the distress and damage that the decision to axe the 0754 service from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh, which called at Aberdour, Burntisland and Dalgety Bay, had caused.
The MSPs also highlighted the problems facing Fife commuters with a reduced number of carriages meaning overloaded trains for hard pressed travellers on the route.
The campaign is being continued on the Fairness for Fife commuters Facebook page.
